The following post our Question reader series is a real user submitted question. To maintain the integrity of the original question, we do not modify or change the questions of readers in any way.

Q: What if some of the cards / loans, etc. are listed in my name and some in the name of my husband. Should we set up "two" separate accounts to receive the credit information or can we receive information about the two of us in the same report? Thank you!

A: Yes, you and your husband will each need to request your own credit reports with all three credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) in order to obtain a complete picture of your current credit health. Accounts such as credit cards and loans that are in your name will appear on your credit reports and accounts in your husband's name will be displayed on the report.

The best way to access your credit report is to sign up for a free trial of a credit report monitoring service. Our monitoring service rated credit report, Identity Guard will give you all three credit reports and all three credit scores simply free by registering for a test of thirty days of service. Identity Guard will also monitor all three of your credit reports and alerts you if changes appear on any of your credit records. If you decide you no longer want the service, you can cancel within 30 days of signing and free credit reports and credit scores you received are yours.
