is often said that there are two types of computer users !; those who safeguard the hard drive of their computer and those who will! The point is that everyone should be to back up files from their computers to avoid losses of import documents, music files, photos, emails and all the other things on imports that you store on your computer laptop or desktop computer.

The processing of a file backup used to be an arduous manual task that was better adapted to technical professionals and uber geeks. But a wave of very easy to use and mostly automated backup services have been released on the market in recent years that make a backup of your hard drive easier than ever. Today we launch our Comparison of backup services online that you can look at NextAdvisor.com.

There are two types of backup services online that we examined. The first are services that deal with hard disk backups every day of your automated computer, or whatever schedule you set, taking advantage of downtime on your computers processors- this occurs largely any time your computer's screen saver is on. These services, including Mozy and Carbonite are very easy to install and maintain. Each stores a secure copy of all your important files and allows you to access in case of lost files or, in some cases, if you want to get your hands on the files, but away from your computer.

Mozy is our favorite of these services, because it is extremely flexible and has many features, including access to your files anywhere and support for Windows and Mac machines (all the other services that we have examined only support Windows-based PC). Although each of these services have a free trial component, Mozy gives you actually 2GB of free storage that you can use forever. Although it is likely that you will eventually need to update over time that your files are developing.

Carbonite Mozy is a great alternative in that it is a little easier to set up and truly "set and forget". The downside is that Carbonite is pretty "no frills". for example, you can access your stored files when you need to restore the hard drive of your computer as a result of data loss

Edit:. Len Carbonite was kind enough to stop with some additional information to clarify the original message. you can access individual files with Carbonite treating a restore just the files or folders you want to access. in addition, according Len, Carbonite will release the next generation of its product later this year that will include key advanced functionality. They also have plans to provide Mac support in 2008. See commentary Len below for details.

The second type of service we encountered in our review were those who Wyou allo to store some important files online and access them from anywhere. Box.net is an excellent example of this type of service.

Box.net is an excellent tool to store all your computer files because their file storage limits are much lower than Mozy or Carbonite (each of which offers unlimited storage). But you can use Box.net as a tool to store some files such as financial records or photso, you want to be able to have remote access and sharing with others. Box.net collaborative features are much more robust than Carbonite or Mozy.

Ultimately, our research found today online backup solutions are really for all consumers so there's really no excuse not to be using . We strongly recommend Mozy for most consumers and Carbonite is a very close second. As always, we encourage our readers to read our guide to free online full online backup services to find the service that is right for them.
