Hewlett Packard announced in an email to subscribers today that the online backup service of the company, HP Upline, will be removed As of march 31, 2009. the service will be arrested reverse subscriber data this morning at 8am PST morning.

In a move very pro-consumer, HP will provide a full refund to all subscribers in an amount equal to the fees they paid when they were an active member of the paid service.

We strongly suggest that former Upline subscribers invest their refunds in a new online backup service like Carbonite or Mozy. You can compare backup services online at NextAdvisor.com.

Thank you for your interest in HP Upline

HP continually evaluates product lines and has decided to discontinue the HP Upline Service March 31, 2009.

HP will not be backing up your files to the HP Upline servers on 26 February 2009 at 8 am Pacific time. HP will keep the file functionality of operational Upline catering service until March 31, 2009 Pacific Time to download the files you backed up to Upline.

If you have a paid subscription to HP Upline, you will be refunded the full amount of fees you paid for the service. This refund will be credited to the credit card account or PayPal account that you used to register for the Upline service. If you do not receive reimbursement until March 31, 2009, please contact our customer service team at https://www.upline.com/support/email.aspx.
