Vonage announced yesterday that they have resolved an ongoing patent dispute with Nortel technology to make 911 calls and 411 by the through VoIP networks.
Vonage Chief Legal Officer Sharon O'Leary said
"We are pleased to resolve this issue and enter into a productive relationship with Nortel,"
the regulation, which resulted in no monetary damages or Vonage or Nortel, was the last remaining patent litigation that was pending Vonage. Vonage has already settled the business of related patents with AT & T, Sprint Nextel and Verizon Communications.
This is great news for Vonage since it allows them to begin 2008 with a totally clean slate and focus on continuing to build new, features innovative products (such as the recently released ContactBook ), to improve their quality of newtork and globally without the distractions of legal wrangling background ion.
