Two new Facebook imitation sites have sprung up over the last two days trying to steal login names and passwords of users Facebook. The phishing sites, and fbstarter.com fbaction.net appear virtually identical to facebook.com. Phishers lure users to fake websites by sending Facebook messages that say, "Look!" and a link to a Facebook page of imitation, where users are encouraged to connect with their names and passwords.
Once the phishers have your Facebook login information, they can access a wealth of personal data, which puts you at risk of identity theft. They can also perpetuate the scam by sending messages to all your contacts, drawing them to phishing sites as well.
If you receive a Facebook message that says:.. "Look at this," You must remove the Do not click on the link When connecting to Facebook, check the address bar to be sure that it reads, "facebook.com." If it does not, leave the page immediately.
