A commenter recently on our Facebook identity theft protection guide asked how to report a person who created a fake Facebook profile in her name. After some quick research, we found that Facebook makes it pretty easy to report a fake profile.
If you already have a Facebook account, just visit the Facebook "Report a fake profile" page and enter the requested information.
If you do not have a Facebook account you can ask a friend who is an account to report the fake page in your name. Alternatively, you can send an email to "login@facebook.com." briefly explain a fake profile was created on your behalf and provide your details and a member of the Facebook support team can contact you to investigate the matter.
Someone setting up a fake Facebook profile in your name can be a sign theft more serious identity. Read our Facebook identity theft protection guide and guide for identity theft protection services for more.
