Americans who filed their taxes in the first two months of 2008 are more likely to send an e-file their returns than ever according to news statistics by the Internal Revenue Service this week.
More than 38 million people filed their 2007 income to the end of February 2008, an increase of 5% compared to last year. In addition, nearly a third of early filers submitted their online tax return, which is up 14% from the returns of 2006.
The IRS is happy to see the trend e-file grow as officials work to move the organization in full force in the digital age. According to IRS Commissioner Linda Stiff Acting, "e-filing continues to be the preferred way to file your tax return."
Taxpayers also see a bump in the money that they are back government so far this year. the average tax return for the first filers is $ 2,708. Average tax return last year was $ 2,655.
