Q: I have one concern is the large amount of information that I have in Microsoft Office. Carbonite is capable of storing Outlook files (addresses, phone numbers, etc.) and email
A: Yes, Carbonite can store files Outlook. By default, Carbonite backs up your entire Documents and Settings folder. Once you buy an account, it will also save your music files. However, you can manually add whatever you want to your backup Carbonite.
All your Outlook data is stored in a single file called PST. This file contains your email, calendar and contacts, among other information. The location of this file varies depending on the version of Outlook that you have. If you open the "tree" of your Outlook folders, each top level elements, usually called "Personal Folders" or "Outlook Today" is another PST file. Right click on the folder and select "Properties." Then click the "Advanced" button. This will bring up a window that shows the name and the name of the file. the file name will include the full path to the PST file. once you know where your PST is located, you can manually add it to your regular backup Carbonite.
You may also save your PST file with any other online backup service, although since these files can get quite large, it is more convenient to use a service such as Carbonite, Mozy or ElephantDrive, which offer unlimited storage space.
