Network Solutions provides website hosting and processing services payments to online merchants. On Friday, the company announced a data breach that puts more than 573,000 customers at risk of identity theft. The breach was caused by hackers who broke into the company's servers and installed malicious code that enabled them to intercept personal and financial information every time customers have shopped in stores online hosted by Network Solutions. The stolen payment data includes transactions between March 12 and June 8. Network Solutions began notifying the affected traders, and offered to help inform customers impacted as well. Network Solutions spokeswoman Susan Wade said: "We feel terrible about it, to impose the notification process, which can be kind of tricky because there is not a data breach federal law. "the company offers to pay for a year of TransUnion credit monitoring for all consumers whose financial data was compromised.
