Further review settlement documents related to TJX data breach 2006 put light on many important details about the 15% storewide discount sale we reported yesterday. Various Internet message boards have identified tomorrow January 22, 2009 target date for the sale.
Some highlights of the settlement documentation concerning conditions of sale:
- The event will include a 15% discount on all merchandise (except gift cards ) in all TJX stores, which include TJ Maxx, Marshalls, the Maxx, AJ Wright and HomeGoods.
- Sale on Thursday, Friday or Saturday in January, February or July at the discretion of TJX.
- The discount will be available to all consumers who shop on the designated day, not just customers who may have been affected by the data breach.
- Additional discounts (excluding employee discounts) shall stand on top of the 15% discount.
- stores have extended hours from 8:00 00-22h00
It is important to note that the day 22 January has not been confirmed by TJX and selling it -even not be necessary as part of the settlement agreement. However, TJX publicly disclosed that the sale will take place sometime in 2009.
The following is the full text of the section of the settlement agreement on the storewide 15% discount at TJ Maxx, Marshalls and other TJX stores.
TJX will hold a unique special event (the "Special Event") in which prices on all merchandise (excluding gift cards) in all TJX stores is reduced by 15%. This 15% price reduction is applied to the check-out register and will be in addition to any other discounts (other than reductions in employees), if applicable, and is available to all customers who make purchases on this day -the. The special event will one day be a Thursday, Friday or Saturday in January, February or July appointed by TJX. The special event is to occur after the date of entry into force at a date to enable proper commercial management of the event. TJX stores will have extended hours (08h00-22h00) on the date of the special event, but may be restricted by local laws. Although the need and practicality, the public can access this sale, the sale is expected by this provision of the Regulation in the summary notice and of course use the Business Review of event, to be announced near the time of day at which the special event occurs. TJX said it had no storewide sales event in the TJX Stores system in the past, to the best of memories of senior management, and that this sales event is a direct result of this regulation, and the price reduction of 15% during the event will be in addition to any and all other discounts, sales, etc. (Other than employee discounts) available at the time of the event. No discount available to the public must be removed because of the special event.
