- Back in March, we blogged about the announcement that Apple would allow third-party software developers to create applications that would iPhone owners to use the wifi phone to make VoIP calls. Recently, Apple began offering these types of third-party applications through its online App Store. VoIP applications for the iPhone allows users to avoid the high cost of international phone calls. Some VoIP applications published to date include MobileTalk iPhone, which uses the cellular network instead of wireless voice and Packet8 Truphone Anywhere. iPhone application and iCall of JAHJAH are not available yet, but they should be released within a month.
