According to the Seattle Times, revenue associated with a JC Penny store in Seattle, Washington came face to -face with a woman who stole her identity. Michelle Cambridge, a store employee, knew his identity had been stolen, and she had even seen a thief surveillance photo, but it was not the thief tried to open a credit card with Cambridge that really investigation got to go. When Cambridge recognized women standing at the counter of the photo she had seen, she had security training their cameras on the thief. While the thief was not arrested then and there, Cambridge knew she had met the woman who was ruining her credit for six months. Cambridge said:

"Out of how many customer service offices, how many registers she could have gone to, and she had come to me?"

Clearly Cambridge was lucky. But she was also smart. She knew something was when she began to receive reports of store credit cards that she never requested.
